Get the Look: Octavia Spencer

It’s hard not to notice Octavia Spencer, star of The Help. The Hollywood starlet has created lots of excitement with her wins at the 2012 Golden Globes and the SAG Awards. In between her wins, Octavia recently stopped by the Nine Zero One pop-up salon at Sundance to pick up some UNITE Hair (see attached photo.) Now, with all of the Oscar Buzz surrounding her nod for Best Supporting Actress, we can’t help but to keep our fingers crossed for another win.

Here are some tips from UNITE Hair as to how to recreate her stunning look at the SAG Awards:

•                      Octavia chose a sleek high bun that was pulled away from her face.

•                      Start by smoothing damp hair with a shine serum to combat any frizz, try UNITE Shine Liquid ($29.95:Unitehair.com) Next, blow out hair using a round brush until smooth.

•                      Once hair is completely dry, using a paddle brush, sweep hair into a high bun, securing with bobby pins as you go.

•                      Make sure to use a strong hairspray to keep every last hair in place. Try UNITE Session Max Hairspray ($29.95: Unitehair.com).

•                      To complete this look, use a shine spray that will highlight the definition of this structured bum. Try, UNITE Shina Mist Spray ($26.25: Unitehair.com).

Blonde is the new Black

In this Picture: Nikki Minaj, Beyonce, Kelly Osbourne, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian

Is blonde the new black? Summertime has almost come to an end but this does not means that celeb hair color choices will. In fact, Katy Perry, Adrienne Baillon and Eva Pigford have recently made a switch from dark to light.  Beyonce who’s natural  hair is a dark brown, has kept her blonde hues for over  a decade. Rihanna has also had blonde tresses until she decided to go left with bright red. Nikki Minaj has donned platinum blonde, Barbie wigs while Kim Kardashian has gone from black to gold, only for one day.

Whether its blonde, red, pink or blue, black is slowly drifting off the radar although, it will never disappear from one’s wardrobe.

Green Smoothies are the Way to Go for a Healthy Glow

Hollywood is buzzing about the exciting news of Hilary Duff’s pregnancy. Just yesterday, the actress and mom-to-be was spotted on her way to a pilates class with a mysterious green drink. That drink is none other than celebrity nutritionist and author of The Beauty Detox Solution, Kimberly Snyder’s Glowing Green Smoothie.

Made up of about 70% green vegetables, the Glowing Green Smoothie, packed with minerals and chlorophyll, will keep her body healthy and balanced throughout her pregnancy.

It is not just the quantity of greens that makes the smoothie so amazing—because the fruits and vegetables are blended (“pre-digestion”), your body is able to absorb more of the vitamins and minerals without working so hard.

The Glowing Green Smoothie

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups water
1 head organic romaine lettuce, chopped
3-4 stalks organic celery
1/2 head of a large bunch or 3/4 of a small bunch of spinach
1 organic apple, cored and chopped
1 organic pear, cored and chopped
1 organic banana
Juice of 1/2 fresh organic lemon

Optional:
1/3 bunch organic cilantro (stems okay)
1/3 bunch organic parsley (stems okay)

Directions: Add water and chopped head of romaine to blender. Blend at a low speed until smooth. Add celery, apple and pear and blend at high speed. Add cilantro and parsley (which help chelate heavy metals out of your body). Finish with banana and lemon.

Kim Kardashian’s Guestlist Gore

Every woman’s dream is to get married, be happy and have a wedding and memories to last a lifetime and that is about to take place this Saturday, August 20th in Montecito, CA for Kim Kardashian.   Kim will become Misses Chris Humpries in less than 48 hours and there are still changes to be made to the guest list.  Approximately 50 people will be cut from the guest list after fire marshal’s expressed safety concerns with capacity.  “The fire marshal got involved. Once the fire department learned about all the TV equipment that’s going to be inside the space – the lights, the cameras and the production crew – Kim was told she had to cut the guest list by 50 people,” says sources.

Kim Kardashian will be adorned in a custom made Vera Wang gown, with ample outlets of press coverage and even a two-part special to air on E! in October 2011.

P.S.

Did you know there will reportedly be 720 bottles of chardonnay, rose, merlot, and cabernet on hand courtesy of Malibu Rocky Oaks Wine?  Stayed tuned for updates!

The Hermes Man 2011

The Hermes Fall Winter 2011 Collection designed by Veronique Nichanian continues to steer the men’s line with the simple conviction that men want memorable clothes more than they want fashion.  What caught my eye for the Hermes guy was this seasons outerwear.  Their look is provides a narrower and shorter breed of jacket in double-face cashmere was worn over fine gauge knits and relaxed flannels. Also, their big flowing greatcoats or double-face cashmere played to the season’s big-over-little theme.

Ciara’s Private Performance

Ciara hit the stage this weekend in Lake Como, NJ for a private performance. She is glowing with her gold locks and red top just before the show, giving a more innocent side. She later changes into all white attire and shows the crowd how she gets down. Ciara certainly has moves that only a select few can compete with. Her sense of style has gone from round-the-way chic, to haute and robotic which totally compliments her moves.

Red Carpet Yes or Mess: Smurfs Movie Premiere

The highly anticipated children’s movie, The Smurfs hits theaters this week on July 29th and the celebs hit the red carpet or blue carpet to be exact. It was a fun filled evening attended by Hollywood’s hottest actors from Sofia Vergara, Katy Perry, Neil Patrick Harris, George Lopez, Brook Shields, Olivia Palermo, Jayma Mays and many others. As expected, everyone was excited but were we excited about their wardrobe selections?

First up: Katy Perry!  The smoking hot songstress is the only one who can  make a potential Halloween costume look hauter than ever. We love the way this dress sits on her curves from the cut out plunging cleavage to the hiked up hem paired with vintage cobalt blue pumps. Way to go, Kate!

Next up, Jayma Mays! We love this green against her skin tone and the dress looks absolutely painted on, however the shoes are so boring. Color blocking is a huge trend right now so we wish she would have explored a shoe with color, like these blue Giuseppi Zanotti suede pumps – perfectly fitting for the blue occasion. Hot Pink or Salmon would have come in for second place. Ofcourse red would NOT have worked unless it were a Christmas premiere and yellow would have been an advertisement for a Sprite commercial.

The last fashionista and former model, Brooke Shields was also in attendance. She still proves to be as hot as she was in the 80′s. She opted for a more casual red carpet look and paired a sleeveless white ruffled top with a rouched  cobalt blue pencil skirt and strappy black sandals. We arent too crazy about the shirt and skirt together however, if she had on a pair of yellow pumps like these Pour la Victoire’s, it would have pulled the entire look together.

And believe it or not, blue is trending this Fall so DO incorporate the color into your wardrobe this coming season. Here are a few of our favorite picks:

1. DVF whitman stretch silk shirt  $245 netaporter.com; 2. Tibi  silk crepe de chine pants $248 at netaporter.com; 3. Asos Skinny belt $17.24 at asos.com; 4. Jersey pencil skirt $50 at topshop.com; 5. Emilio Pucci embroidered scarf $228 at netaporter.com; 6. Juicy Couture  ‘Keep me hanging on’ leather bracelet $68 at zappos.com; 7.Michael Michael Kors quilted flap purse $248 at zappos.com; 8. Cobalt sleeveless tuck shift dress $95 at topshop.com; 9. Steve Madden Partyy-r satin pump $129 at zappos.com; 10. Giuseppe Zanotti suede peep toe pump $650 at couture.zappos.com

Breaking News: Amy Winehouse dies at 27 years old

London- According to reports from TMZ, famed singer Amy Winehouse was found dead at her London flat today. The Singer was said to have purchased a cocktail of narcotics including cocaine, ecstasy and ketamine mixed with alcohol. She just split with her longtime boyfriend and film director, Regg Traviss who had previously turned down a marriage proposal from the star. Traviss was desperate to help Amy turn her life around but after he realized that she couldn’t be helped he decided to end  their relationship. Although her and Traviss had split, he was outside her apartment today along with Amy’s bodyguard as well as long time friend, Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace, as the investigation went on in Winehouse’s apartment.

Winehouse’s body was taken to a local mortuary and her heartbroken mother Janis, admitted she believed her daughter’s death had been ‘only a matter of time’ when they met just 24 hours before she died. Winehouse famously battled addiction to drugs and alcohol and was in and out of rehab several times throughout the years. Last month, Winehouse canceled her European tour after a performance in Serbia where she seemed completely out of it. In fact, she was booed off stage the concert in Serbia. The signer was known for her trouble with drug abuse and apparently her team of people tried to get her to go to rehab but she said “No, No No”, as her first single states in the chorus.

Amy had recently completed her third album but the release date was delayed by Island Records when she went into rehab. The singer’s tragic death at the age of 27 puts her in a monument commemorating legends who have all died at the same age, better known as the 27 Club.

The very talented songstress will be missed.  The Fashion Reporter would like to give our condolences to the Winehouse family.
