Red Carpet
2012 COSTUME INSTITUTE MET BALL
WORST DRESSED
Next up to bat, we have Florence Welch in Alexander McQueen. Although the dress featured intricate detailing and impeccable embroidery, Christmas is long gone. All Florence was missing was ornaments and the angel on top however, she can carry any look and it actually works on her.
___________
Eva Mendes chose the right color for her fleshtone but the most unflattering Prada peplum she could find. She did her curvaceous body a disservice when she could have opted for a more mermaid-esque gown from Prada’s SS 2012 0r FW 2012 collection. Her hair is always flawless and the clutch worked but NOT the dress!
___________
Jessica Biel has one of Hollywood’s hottest bodies and of all nights to show it off, she wore a very beautiful corporate-chic Prada dress while on the arms of one of Hollywood’s most wanted men! Although the dress was stunning and highly expected on Michelle Obama, she needed to shut down any traces of winks at her man with a form-fitting and nearly painted on gown. Her bangs also needed to be a half inch shorter because they were hiding her big brown eyes.
KRISTEN BELL in Balenciaga was a no go! The bustier paired with the skirt and the shoes looked very 1980′s high school dance-ish . all she needed was a side ponytail and bright pink lips. A gold or bronze Grecian gown paired with citrus yellow pumps would have stolen the show and a red lip. She can carry look, just not this one!
84TH ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS – 2012
What did it for everyone last night at the 84th Annual Academy Awards? Was it Angelina Jolie’s slit Versace dress? Jennifer Lopez’s painted on gown? Penelope Cruz’s classic beauty? Emma Stone’s couture character? Or was it the fact that Octavia Spencer thanked the entire state of Alabama during her winning Oscar speech? Maybe it was Cirque de Soliel’s standing ovation performance? Whatever it was, many viewers were mostly tuned into one of television’s most highly anticipated awards shows for the fashion more so than the action. With so many gorgeous attendees illuminating the red carpet, it was hard to notice if there were any ‘messes’. Beginning with the ‘yesses’, Angelina Jolie stunned in an all black velvet Versace gown with an ultra high split that left everyone’s eyeballs popping out as she stood on stage. Her expression exuded “I know I’m bad” as she opened the envelope for the nominees. The parodies will certainly be on their way and let’s not be surprised if SNL does a stint this weekend. and As if anyone were paying attention to anything she had to say!
Jennifer Lopez and Cameron Diaz gave the audience rear action in their mermaid style ivory gowns. Again, as if anyone were paying attention to what they also had to say!
One thing’s for sure is that the girls served in their gowns and the guys wore a smile with their basic black tuxedos.
18TH ANNUAL SAG AWARDS 2012
Don’t we just live for ‘award show season’ just to see those fancy gowns and 30karat gems the gals are wearing. Our favorite celebrities play some of the most challenging roles and very rarely have time for themselves. This is where their stylists role up their sleeves and go to combat but do their clients always get what they bargain for? Sometimes!! Of all the looks from the 18th Annual SAG Awards, the worst by far had to be –and we hate to say this– Meryl Streep in Vivienne Westwood. The Devil Wears Prada star will forever go down in history as the best dressed and most feared fashionista no matter what other role she plays on the big screen. It’s sort of like the Sex and the City girls’, Sarah Jessica Parker or Kim Catrell, dressing down for a red carpet event. Not the move! And what was up with Kristin Wiig and that choker which completely ruined a classic Balenciaga gown? Not the move .
On a serious note, lets get into the other looks, shall we! Southland star and 227′s sweetheart, Regina King looked absolutely flawless in a purple Alberta Ferretti gown while Viola Davis showed off her curves in a white Marchesa gown with embroidered detailing. Lea Michelle and her infamous ‘I know I’m bad lip pout’, gave a lot of leg action in Versace while Sofia Vergara showed off her best assets in Marchesa–she knows those mermaid gowns works on her lil Latina body and we are not mad at all! Octavia Spencer couldn’t have chosen a more perfect gown for her very curvacious figure, then again Tadashi Shoji is a master at nip and tuck pieces for all shapes and sizes. Alot of black gowns hit the red carpet as well including Angelina Jolie’s simplistic Jenny Packham; Emma Stone’s charismatic Alexander McQueen; Ashlee Simpson’s flapper inspired Jenny Packham; Amber Heard’s laser-cut Zac Posen; Jane Krampowski’s victorian-inspired Antonio Berardi; and Jayma Mays form-fitting Reem Acra, a dress like this needs no accessories.

69th Annual Golden Globes -2012
Angelina Jolie stole the show in Versace from head to toe. Charlize Theron was well done in Christian Dior. Reese Witherspoon looked perfect in Zac Posen.Sofia Vergara has the body we all dream in a nearly painted on Vera Wang gown. Jessica Alba stunned in a shimmering Marchesa gown.

Bold color will appear more and more as Spring approaches and these ladies are getting involved early. Bright yellows, greens, purple and royal blue will be the commanding colors and with the Oscars nearing, expect to see your favorite stars taking more and more fashion risks.
Green is THE color for Spring 2012 and these fashionistas obviously got the memo. Unfortunately, one of these looks does not work. Zoey Deschanel usually looks the part but she may have looked better in a bodice top with a long skirt, similar to what Salma Hayek wore.

PEOPLES CHOICE AWARDS 2012
Ginnifer Goodwin delivered timeless beauty in a vibrant pink dress by ROKSANDA ILLINCIC paired with Jimmy Choo lace up heels.
These ladies look like they were auditioning for Dancing With the Stars, were running late and didn’t have time to change for red carpet. Gorgeous faces with slight resemblance to each other but not the best selection for an award show, pardon-for any show!
If they had switched dresses, this may have possibly worked but as is, not at all!
Lea Michelle is certainly the ‘people’s choice’, but this Marchesa dress was not a good choice, however, it actually looks better from the back. Marchesa makes amazing gowns, however this dress works best on an elongated body.
These dresses are wrong on so may levels. Where should we begin? The stripe down the center of Kelly Osbourne’s dress is hideous. The green and black combo on looks like an inverted tropical beach. We are just waiting for the snake to come out of the box to compliment this wrap around train black sequin dress. Its just too much!
Gorgeous gowns tend to work for an award show but these ladies look like they are going to their Senior Prom. Kelly Cuoco in a stunning Badgley Mishka nude gown with floral detail and Demi Lovato in Marchesa’s Resort 2012 s dress. The dresses are amazing but we would have preferred for them to hike up the hem and have fun until Academy Awards time!
Elie Saab has yet to disappoint in his show stopping gowns. Saab’s dresses are specifically intended for a gal who wants to show off her stuff whether she is 21 or 61! Even more amazing is that his designs require minimal accessorizing. Ever since Halle Berry stunned viewers in his designs, starlets all over the world were requesting their own.
Zac Posen is another designer who has the gown-game on lockdown. There isn’t a single dress that does not work for Award-Show season. There is enough variety in Posen’s collection to fit virtually any body shape or any age range. We expect Jennifer Hudson and Scarlett Johanssen in anyone of these gowns, thats for sure!

AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS – RED CARPET RECAP
The AMA’s red carpet critique continues with the gents who shocked us all. Now normally will.i.am looks very Con Edison-chic in his electric attire however, when he isn’t performing he actually is quite swaggerific. He opted for a more polished and refined look topped of with 1940′s inspired spectacles. The man’s got class and style!! Soulja Boy and Little Jon represented the A-Town in plaid variations, a signature style of that territory. Little Jon gave us an all-American, Ralph Lauren inspired vintage look with the infamous ‘duckie’ boots- a TOTAL DO- while Soulja Boy violated every Fall fashion rule. Granted white is now acceptable after Labor Day, let’s make it luxe. A white sports jacket/blazer, lose the plaid top (the wife beater is fine with all of that gaudy jewelry) and try leopard sneakers for a bit of pinache, Soulja Boy.
Do these ladies ever look bad? Very rarely, and even bad looks good on them. Jennifer Hudson’s better-than-ever, post baby and Weight Watchers body has every one focused and signing up to look like her! She donned a pewter Jenny Packham mini dress and paired them with black glitter Daffodil Loubotin’s. Katy Pery’s plum wine hair is so-3008 and her Vivienne Westwood, kimono inspired dress paired with electric blue pumps is just what FW 2011, style doctor ordered. Although we love Taylor Swift with her classic waves, she proved that she can pull off any style. The emerald green earrings were the perfect selection against her flesh tone and the embellishments on her Reem Acra gown were like the icing on a red velvet cake. Mary J. Blige looked ferocious in her cheetah printed gown. It almost looked as if it were painted on! No MESSES here, at All!
Jersey Shore’s Nicole Cortese arrived at the 28th Annual VMA’s in a sequined rainbow colored mini dress bearing all her curves. Rainbow patterns and colors are currently trending for FW 2011 however, it has to be done neatly meaning hair, nails and shoes must be DONE and DONE!

Nikki Minaj t the 2011 MTV Movie Awards: Yes or Mess?

Kate Hudson looked stunning in this white gown by Marchesa although she could have very well eloped to Vegas immediately after.

January Jones looked very graceful in a black gown by Lanvin. Mary Poppings would have appreciated this look.
