American actress Scarlett Johansson has been named the new face for the Spanish fashion giant, MANGO. Her image will debut for the Fall/Winter 09 campaign, embodying the ideal Mango woman; chic, independent, and cosmopolitan. Johansson exudes a confident demeanor while remaining youthful and playful.
Already making an impression on the film industry, Scarlett Johansson has showcased her versatility in her professional career through her many challenging roles. Her talent has been acknowledged by such prestigious directors as Christopher Nolan, Robert Redford, Brian De Palma and Sofia Coppola.
Born in New York in 1984, Johansson became famous thanks to her performance in the film The Horse Whisperer. Her subsequent performance in Ghost World received critical acclaim. In 2004, Johansson’s performance in Lost in Translation won her a BAFTA award for best starring role, as well as a nomination in the same category for Girl with a Pearl Earring. Johansson’s performance in these films solidified her place in the industry, earning her Golden Globe nominations for both films the same year. After such a major international projection, she worked with legendary director Woody Allen in such films as Scoop and Vicky Cristina Barcelona, in which she appeared alongside Penélope Cruz. One of her biggest successes came when she once again collaborated with Allen on Match Point, once again securing her a Golden Globe nomination in 2006.
With this collaboration, Scarlett Johansson is taking over from her predecessor, Penélope Cruz, who has been the image of the brand for the last four seasons. Since its beginnings, MANGO has banked on famous faces to feature in its advertising campaigns. Models of the stature of Milla Jovovich, Lizzy Jagger, Karolina Kurkova, Naomi Campbell, Eva Herzigova, Inés Sastre, Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington and Diane Kruger have also been images of the brand at various times.

His name is Prince Jamir. A Brooklyn, New York bred artist with a passion for fashion and great love for music who happens to write his own song’s and own tow labels, both music and fashion. In 2008, Celestial Arts Music Group LLC was established and as of this year, Prince Jamir has plans to release his long time coming debut album, My Offering memoirs of the life: Writing & Discoveries of Prince Jamir with plans to continue touring within the States as well as overseas. With the same energy and drive that he has for performing, he also plans to pursue acting where he can further advance into his craft as a storyteller and narrator.
Fashion also plays a role into this young mans state of mind and self-expression. This is reflected in his “Brooklyn swag” that resonates in his live performances which led him to partner up with his best friend, Marc Logan II to develop their own clothing line, Zaviere. A men’s high fashion line with an urban twist, Zaziere serves as a reflection of Jamir's very own personal sense of style.
We managed to catch up with Prince Jamir at one of the shows he does weekly, and was impressed by the quality of his voice and stage presence. He’s an independent artist with a diverse following and does monthly shows at many major venues in New York City such as BB Kings, Sullivan Hall, Times Square Arts Center, & Kenny’s Castaways.
Recently the live music experience has come a long way. Seemingly, a brand new technology was created by award winning artist Paul Notzol called MC TXT (www.txtualhealing.com) that basically allows the crowd to send random or comical text messages to the artists while they are on stage in turn, allowing the artist to translate each text message on screen display into a freestyle to the beat manipulated by the dj. This experience keeps the crowd engaged and entertained as they witness Hip Hop MCs who are lyrically enabled to paint metaphoric pictures. This serves as another testament of the unique talent and versatility of the one and only, Prince Jamir.
This highlights a young man from Brooklyn, whose soul and originality are grabbing the world’s attention with something real. In the words of another Brooklyn artist turned icon “This is not an Image, This is God given ” - Jay Z
